Arthur Ray Brown's Obituary
Brother Arthur Ray Brown, the seventh child of the late Roy Brown and the late Lee Angie Harper Brown, was born on March 08, 1954, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. He departed this earthly life August 25, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, after catastrophic illnesses.
Arthur grew up in the Egypt Hill Community near Gatesville, Mississippi, and remained there until his passing. He attended Holtzclaw Memorial School in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. Arthur loved gardening. He took pride in growing vegetables and designing beautiful flower beds. Arthur would often give people vegetables and anything he thought they could use. He would buy and share whatever he had with others.
His greatest passion was to regularly attend Sunday School and Church. Arthur joined the Egypt Hill M.B. Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Otis Ellis. In 1975, he united with the Bright Star Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing and often sang his favorite songs "Ain't Nobody's Fault but My Own" and "The Lord Is Blessing Me."
For the past three years, Arthur suffered health-related issues and often received medical care with short hospital visits.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lee Angie Harper Brown, and one brother Harold Gene Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory twelve siblings--seven brothers--Ray Charles (Maxine) Brown, Terry, MS; Frankie L. (Bobbie) Brown, Crystal Springs, MS; Billy W. (Debra) Brown, Florence, MS; Ree (deceased Daisy) Brown, Richland, MS; Michael Brown, Crystal Springs, MS, and Rev. Gregory (Bennie) Brown, Terry, MS; and five sisters--Ella M. Lynch, Patterson, New Jersey; Linda F. (James) Alexander, Richland, MS; Janice Brown Dixon, Crystal Springs, MS; Alice Dixon, Crystal Springs, MS; Jacqueline (Rev. J.W.) Wilson, Terry, MS; one sister-in-law Sadie Brown (deceased Harold Gene), Terry, MS; aunt Stella Brown, Detroit, MI; one paternal aunt Catherine Tidsdale, Detroit, MI; one maternal aunt Beulah M. Harper, Georgetown, MS; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
