Bobbie Ray Cooper Austin, the fifth child of Alma Lee and Booker T.
Cooper, Sr., was born on April 19, 1953, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.
She accepted Christ at a youthful age and was baptized at Pisgah Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, and later joined church in Utica, Mississippi, where Rev. Williams was pastor. Bobbie lived in Utica for several years and worked in food service and housekeeping at Utica Junior College. She was married to Eddie James Austin on November 24, 2000; at the time of his passing, they were together for 20 years.
Surviving family members include her sister Flora L Cooper Jones of Chicago, IL; three brothers, Mozelle Cooper of Jackson, MS, Rev. Jimmie Kennedy (Rev. Olifphia), and James H. Welch of Crystal Springs, MS; an aunt, Dr. Bereneice Madison of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is predeceased by an older sister, Jessie Cooper Jordan and three brothers, Booker T. Cooper (Cecelia), Ben Walter Cooper, and Willie George Kennedy (Earnestine).
