Bobbie Jane Stewart's Obituary
Bobbie Jane Stewart was born June 21, 1938, to the late Alonzo and Essie Whittington. She was the oldest of two children. Bobbie received her High School Diploma from Conway High School in Carthage, MS.
Bobbie spent most of her youth in Kosciusko, MS on what is now known as Allen Road. She often spoke of the times of getting into trouble with cousins. As she grew older, she entered the workforce with her cousin Dorothy, they worked their first job in a clinic in Carthage, MS. Shortly after Bobbie moved to Jackson, she gained employment doing what she loved best...cooking.
Bobbies greatest loves in her life were her family, cooking, and most of all her love of God. She accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Kosciusko, MS. When she moved to Jackson her and her mom joined Lloyd Chapel M. B. Church. She did not sing like her brother or cousins but served faithfully as a Secretary and Sunday School teacher. In the transition from Lloyd Chapel M.B. Church to New Lloyd Chapel M.B. Church she continued to be a faithful member, Secretary, and Sunday School Teacher. As times changed, she became a member of Gospel of Deliverance. She became a member, established the Pastor Aide Committee and continued her service as a Sunday School teacher. She eventually became one of the first two Mothers of Gospel of Deliverance.
Bobbie worked for 50 plus years doing what she loved most at Primos Restaurant. Cooking was truly Bobbie's love language. She prided herself in making sure her family knew they were loved by gathering them with love, laughter, and a delicious meal every time they were together.
Bobbie was preceded in death by parents Alonzo and Essie Whittington, husband Percy Stewart, daughter Linda Jean Tillman, and brother Earl Lane Whittington.
