Bobby D. Robinson's Obituary
Bobby D. Robinson was born September 9, 1965, in Jackson, Mississippi to Gracie M. Robinson Lay.
At an early age Bobby confessed Christ and was baptized at New Mt. Calvary M.B. Church. Upon moving to Decatur, MS, he united with the Decatur M.B. Church.
On November 25, 1998, Bobby married the love of his life, Sonja Wilson of Greenville, MS. After relocating to Madison, MS, he and his family united with Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church.
He retired in 2016 from the Mississippi Development Authority where he worked for more than 26 years as Director of Operations. He attended Scott Central High School, C.H. Boler School, Decatur High School and East Central Jr. College. Bobby received his AA degree from Holmes Community College and his BS Degree from Belhaven College where he graduated with honors. Bobby is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Bobby was a humble, kindhearted individual that was known for helping people. He was a loving and giving man that loved people and found it easy to make friends. He cherished his friendships and would talk about them often to his family. He believed in being in good physical condition and would often walk for miles every day. Bobby was a sports enthusiast. He especially loved football and basketball. He loved his mother, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins, often giving advice whether wanted or not.
His mother, Gracie M. Robinson Lay, bonus son, Charleson Pickett and Niece, Tia Eunique Lay preceded him in death. Bobby leaves to celebrate his life: His loving wife, Sonja Wilson Robinson of Madison, MS; Sister Cynthia "Cyndi" Robinson Cook (Vernon) and Brother Eric Lay (Bobbie) all of Decatur, MS. Godbrother and Best Friend, Elder Paul Thames of Chicago, IL, Mother-In-Law, Delores Wilson of Greenville, MS, Brother-In-Law, Shimaya Wilson (Kristy) of Olive Branch, MS, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that were more like siblings.
