Christopher C. Price Jr.'s Obituary
Christopher "Chris" Price Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, at the age of 71. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of love, faith, and hard work will forever be remembered.
Born on December 16, 1953, in Madison County, Mississippi, Chris was the son of the late Christopher and Ernestine Clark Price. Raised in a home grounded in faith, hard work, and love, Chris learned from an early age the importance of family, community, and giving of oneself. He was taught by his parents and grandparents to embrace life with a spirit of generosity, and he lived those lessons every day of his life.
Chris's faith journey began early, as he accepted Christ as his Savior on August 15, 1963. He was baptized in September 1963 by Rev. L.R. Valentine at New Mt. Zion Missionary Church. His relationship with God was a central pillar throughout his life.
Chris's educational journey began in a one-room classroom at Fairview School in Madison County, Mississippi, where life was simple, but the lessons were profound. He continued his education at Rosa Scott School, where he played trumpet and, after the integration of schools, graduated from Madison-Ridgeland High School in 1971. He then attended Alcorn State University, transferring later to Jackson State University, where he graduated as a Dean's List Scholar in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in economics and finance. As he often said, his education truly began on the Price family farm, where he worked tirelessly alongside his father and cousins from dawn to dusk, learning the value of hard work and perseverance.
After graduation, Chris embarked on a professional career that took him across the country, beginning with Nalco Chemical Company in the Chicago area. His career continued with Shell Oil Company and Marathon Oil Company in Louisiana, where he also ventured into entrepreneurship with a small trucking company he named the Touch of Class Club. His career brought him to Houston, Texas, where he worked for Anadarko Petroleum. Throughout his professional life, Chris was known for his dedication, integrity, and the warmth he brought to every endeavor.
Chris was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc. April 23, 1983, in the Lake Charles (LA) Alumni Chapter. During his time as a member of the chapter, he held several positions in the chapter including being the Chapter's Polemarch (President). Brother Price was dedicated to his fraternity and his chapter.
Chris was a devoted and loving father to all of his children, Maurice, Christopher Todd, Crystal and his bonus son Marvin, who were a source of endless pride and joy in his life. He was deeply committed to their well-being, always offering support, guidance, and unconditional love. His wisdom, sense of humor, and steadfast presence shaped them in ways that will forever be cherished.
In addition to his career, Chris found joy in serving others. While in Houston, he became an active member of Fallbrook Church in Spring, Texas, where he served as the Leader of the Boys Mentoring Ministry and as a Sunday School teacher. His deep love for God and for others was evident in all that he did.
Later in life, Chris found love once again when he married Nancy Toulouse. Their relationship blossomed into a deep, loving partnership grounded in mutual respect, a shared spiritual commitment, and a profound love for family. In a moment of profound love and commitment, Chris took Nancy Toulouse as his lovely bride on December 15, 2017. Together, Chris and Nancy shared a bond of love, companionship, mutual respect, and a shared faith in God, which was the foundation of their life together.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Ernestine, and his oldest son, Maurice Cordell Murphy. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Nancy; his children, Christopher Todd and Crystal Nicole; his bonus son, Marvin Toulouse; his siblings, Jacqueline Price of Canton, MS, and Ronnie (Andrea Price of Prairieville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
Chris's family and friends will forever cherish his memory-the warmth of his smile, his unwavering faith, his love for family, and his commitment to always help those in need. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service to God and others, which will continue to inspire all who knew him.
May his soul rest in peace and may the love and wisdom he shared continue to guide us all.
