Dan Bell Jr.'s Obituary
Dan Bell, Jr, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather was born on February 11, 1939, in Sterlington, Louisiana, to the late Dan Bell and Eliza "Lizzie" Bell. He peacefully transitioned from this life on September 6, 2025, at his home in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dan was a graduate of Myles High School in Sterlington, Louisiana, where he was an outstanding basketball player and a skilled saxophonist in the school band. He would later meet and marry Lou B. Hughes of Monroe, Louisiana. From their union came three beloved children: Jacqueline Bell, Curlene Bell (Edward Borders, Jr.), and Dan Bell III (Evelyn).
A tireless work ethic was something Dan was known for as he worked for numerous furniture retailers in the Jackson Metropolitan Area which included the Decorative Center, Harding-Furr Furniture, and D. Noblin Furniture where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed volunteering as a coach with little league football and baseball teams in the Jackson Metro Area.
Dan's legacy will continue to live on through his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lou Hughes Bell; his loving children, Jacqueline Bell, Curlene Bell, and Dan Bell III; one grandchild Kelsey Bell, and a host of nieces and nephews. Dan will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family and will leave behind a legacy that will be cherished by family and friends for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Bell and Eliza "Lizzie" Bell, one brother Perola Paster and two sisters Elvira Bell Ashton and Mary Winfield.
