Daniel Jefferson's Obituary
Daniel "Jeff" Jefferson was born on April 8, 1937, in Williston, FL to the late Willie Jefferson and Lois Tribune. He was the youngest of two children and was known as "Sonny" and "Brother" by his other family members.
Jeff completed his early education in the Williston, FL school system where he obtained his high school diploma. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Career Advisory Technical Sergeant (TSgt). During his twenty-two years of honorable active-duty service, Jeff traveled the world to include duty stations of Germany, Italy, Korea and Japan.
In 1975, while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS, he met the love of his life, Zeddie Mae Roberts. They were later united in holy matrimony on August 9, 1975. While still on active duty, Jeff moved his new family to Kincheloe Air Force Base, MI in 1976. The couple later established residence in Jackson, MS after his retirement from the military in 1977.
Upon relocating to Jackson, MS, Jeff secured a job as a United States Postal Service Mail Carrier. He served in this position with pride for twenty-two years and was never a day late for work.
Jeff was a hard worker who enjoyed cooking, reading about history, laughing with others, listening to the Blues, watching old westerns and military movies. He was a great provider and support system for his family. In his later years as his health declined, Jeff enjoyed having family and friends over for holiday meals or just to visit and shoot the breeze! He also enjoyed running the streets and attending his VA appointments with his favorite caregiver, Luversey Young aka Ms. V!
On September 30, 2025, Jeff answered the master's call while admitted to St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Jeff leaves to cherish his memories: one (1) loving and devoted daughter: LaTasha (Perry) Jefferson-Paige, Clinton, MS; two (2) step-children: Michael (Ruthy) Barnes, Springfield, OH; Linda Faye Bell, Woodbridge, VA; one (1) granddaughter: Ariana Sirgew, Grand Prairie, TX; two (2) grandsons: Damon Barnes, Woodbridge, VA; Sinclair (Omega) Barnes, Woodbridge, VA; one 1) great-grandson, Damon Barnes, Jr., Woodbridge, VA; two (2) nieces: Pamela (Anthony) Lightbourne, Tallahassee, FL; Natalie (Ted) Carnegie, Providence Forge, VA; one (1) nephew: Lawrence (Sandra) Carnegie, Providence Forge, VA; five (5) cousins, Verdell Jefferson, Williston, FL; Cassandra (Al) Page, Hoover, AL; Wilhelmina Watson-Williams, San Diego, CA; James L.
