Ethel Lee Cooper Stovall's Obituary
On April 14, 2025, Mrs. Ethel Lee Cooper Stovall passed away peacefully at 1OO years old. Born on January 25, 1925, Mrs. Stovall was the matriarch of our family - a pillar of strength, wisdom, and honesty. Through every trial and triumph, she carried herself with unmatched grace and resilience. Mrs. Ethel Lee's hands were always working and always open to give. She will forever be cherished as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a beloved sister, aunt, mother-in-law, and church and community staple.
Mrs. Stovall was the living example of faithfulness, perseverance, and responsibility. She taught so many of us, but not just academically. She modeled what is to be a doer of the word and not a hearer only (James I). When the world gave reasons after reasons to quit, Mrs. Stovall showed us how to stand strong and not look like what we go through all the while fighting the good fight.
She lived through a century of history and withstood hard battles, but her greatest legacy is not found in history books; it lives on in the lessons she taught, the way she gave, and the countless lives she touched simply by being her authentic self. Her words, though truthful, would sometimes sting as she would forget the part of Ephesians 4:15 about speaking the truth in love. Yet her faithfulness to God and His call on her life allowed her to walk securely in her faith.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find peace in knowing that she has been reunited with the loved ones who went before her, walking proudly into Glory just as she walked through life-with dignity, beauty, and strength.
Mrs. Ethel Lee Cooper Stovall leaves behind a loving family, church, and community touched by how she lived her life. Mrs. Ethel Lee will be missed, but her memory will echo in all of our hearts. We will miss her humor, her advice, her example, and her unwavering belief that no matter how heavy the world became, we could always find our way through together.
A woman of faith, she nurtured generations with her wisdom and care, her prayers covered our lives, her strength guided our family, and her love built a foundation that will not be shaken. Though we mourn this loss, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will forever shine in all of us.
Rest well, Grandmother. Your work here is done, and oh, how well you have done it.
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."-Psalm 30:5
