George Hopper Kendrick Jr.'s Obituary
On Tuesday, July 15th, 2025, George Hopper Kendrick, Jr., peacefully departed this life at his home in Brandon, Mississippi. George was born March 22, 1958, in Jackson, Mississippi, to George Hopper Kendrick, Sr., and Bennie Jean Bailey Kendrick.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Second Temple Christ (Holiness)USA and remained there until his untimely death. In his early years, George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he toured in the Philippines Islands and fathered his first child. Upon returning to Mississippi, George was united in marriage and to this union fathered his second child.
George Kendrick received his education from Calloway High School. He later became an apprentice to the building trade, progressing to an excellent building specialist in Jackson and the surrounding areas. Many homes in various new and old subdivisions were touched by his hands. He became mentor to many young professionals. After retiring from the building profession, George focused on the newest additions to his family, his grandchildren.
George was truly a classic car and antiques enthusiast. His prized 1936 Dodge Plymouth and various other classics were robustly refurbished. He had refinement for antiques, establishing a love for history in his children and friends.
George leaves to cherish his memory two children, Kisha (Tara) O'Neil-Rosales of Boston and Kirby (Krystal) Kendrick of Jackson, Mississippi; one sister, Cynthia Coleman of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Cheryl Kendrick Rankin; and two brothers, Darrell K. Kendrick and Jonathan Bailey.
