Harry Truman Moore's Obituary
Harry Truman Moore was born on July 13, 1947, to Reverend Herman Moore and Mary Lou Moore (nee White) in Pickens, Mississippi. On Sunday, March 2, 2025, he peacefully passed away and was welcomed home by God with the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Growing up in a Christian home alongside his siblings; Jonathan "Sonny," Gloria "Glo" Gene, Olivia, Corrine, Herman Jr. "Butch," Rickey, Carolyn, Robert, Deborah Ann, and Ronald "Ronnie", Harry accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was baptized at Fairview Baptist Church in Pickens, Mississippi, under the leadership of the late Reverend J.W. Salford.
After serving in the United States Army, Harry returned to Pickens and attended Holmes Community Junior College, where he earned an associate's degree in machinery. Blessed with a natural athletic inclination and ability, Harry was also an accomplished third baseman for the college baseball team and was even considered for the Chicago Cubs Minor League baseball team. A man of many talents, Harry was known locally as "Harry T," the charming and multi-faceted deejay who brought joy to countless listeners.
After marrying Gwin Smith, the couple moved to Canton, Mississippi, where their only daughter, Reesheda Joy, was born. Harry went on to have a successful career at Weherhaeuser, where he worked for many years as a dedicated supervisor and formed lifelong friendships.
Throughout his life, Harry demonstrated the love of God through acts of compassion, kindness, and selflessness. His legacy as a brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend will continue to be felt for generations. As a patriarch in the truest sense, Harry's love knew no bounds. His patience, dedication, and unwavering support are the foundation of the bonds that unite us, and his faithfulness will sustain us for many years to come.
Harry was preceded in death by wife, Geneva Grant Moore; his parents, Mary Lou and Herman Moore; three brothers, Jonathan Moore, Herman 'Butch" Moore Jr., and Robert Earl Moore; and his elder sister, Gloria Jean Gatlin, whose passing occurred just one hour after Harry's.
His legacy lives on through his devoted daughter, Reesheda; his grandchildren, Oscar "Cinco" Carter, Alexis "Lexi" Carter, Nicholas Carter, Alex Carter, and Brooke Carter; his brothers, Ronald (LoRose) Moore and Rickey Moore; his sisters, Olivia McGee, Corrine Banks, Carolyn Wade, Deborah Ann Day; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends. A special bond was also shared with his cousin, Dr. Ernest (Vera) Ward.
We will forever cherish the memory of Harry's love and the impact he had on all of our lives.
