Hyacinth 'Jenny' Jeanoise Nelson's Obituary
Hyacinth 'Jenny' Jeanoise Nelson was born on February 22, 1943, in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. She was known to friends and family for her warmth, determination, and unwavering compassion. Jenny began her career as a nurse at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, all while raising her family and pursuing higher education. Through her incredible dedication, she earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Social Work from Jackson State University.
Jenny continued to serve her community as a social worker with Mississippi Alcohol and Drug Services, where she helped transform numerous lives. Her kindness and empathy left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
As a talented gardener, Jenny's home garden was often praised and featured multiple times in the Jackson Clarion-Ledger newspaper. Her garden, like her life, reflected her devotion, patience, and care, as she generously sowed this same love into everyone she met.
Jenny is survived by her beloved children, Fred, Jr. (Kimwana), Stacy (Toye), and Peta-Gay Simone. She also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jenny is also survived by her sisters, Shelia Hamilton and Madge Reynolds. She shared many decades with her life partner, attorney and former judge, Oran C. Paige.
As we honor her everlasting peace, may the flowers in her garden continue to bloom as a living tribute to her gracious soul.
