Irma Jean Wright Reed's Obituary
Irma (Jean) Wright Reed, an only child, was born to James and Rosa Lee Bateast in Wilkinson County on May 30, 1945. Upon obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Alcorn State University, she married her college sweetheart Johnny B. Reed. This union produced two children: Tarrence Level Reed and Pamela Reed-Simon.
Understanding the importance of education, Irma earned a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. She worked as a teacher and librarian for over 38 years, ultimately retiring from the Rankin County School District in 2007. God blessed her to enjoy 18 years of retirement traveling, exercising, reading, solving crossroad puzzles, watching a variety of music-themed shows and any type of sporting events.
A Christian from an early age, she was a long-time member of the historic Farish Street Baptist Church. Irma leaves one son, (Tarrence), one daughter (Pamela and her husband Anthony Simon), grandchildren (Ryan, Jeremy, and Skylar).
