Mary Ella Bolls Brown's Obituary
Mary Ella Haggard was born December 24, 1929, in Bolton, Mississippi, to the late Nathaniel Haggard and Linnie Hill. She was the 2nd of nine children. She accepted Christ at an early age, attended Orange Hill Baptist Church in Bolton before later attending Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where she became a member of the church choir.
Mary and General Bolls, Sr, were married in 1946 in Edwards, Mississippi; they later moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where Mary joined Morning Star Baptist Church, later becoming a faithful member at Judah Christian Fellowship Church where she was on the Mother Board.
Mary was a very dedicated and hard worker. She retired from St. Dominic Hospital in 1985. After retiring, she dedicated her time to visiting and caring for the sick. Mary loved traveling but most dear to her heart was spending time with family. She was a strong woman of great faith. In every conversation she had with anyone and everyone, she would always say "Thank God for Jesus." That very statement is simple but powerful.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Nathaniel Haggard and Linnie Hill; three sisters, Verlene Singleton, Emma Mae Jefferson, and Sara Lee Gatlin; three brothers, Leroy Haggard, Linzell Haggard, and Waddell Haggard; three daughters, Betty Ann Bolls, Lena Mae Rudd, and Annie Mae Catchings; two sons, General Bolls and Clarence Bolls; and one granddaughter, Teresa Catchings.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories, a son Jimmy Bolls (Patrice); grandchildren, Zinitha Johnson, Karyn Bolls, and Katrina Bolls; other grandchildren; two brothers, John L. Haggard (Essie Jewel) and Willie L. Haggard (Hattie); a host of great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
