Mary Lee Hunter's Obituary
With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the homegoing of Mrs. Mary Lee Hunter, who peacefully departed this life on June 3, 2026, at the age of 97.
Born on August 15, 1928, Mrs. Hunter was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and boundless love. A devoted prayer warrior, she believed in the power of prayer and faithfully carried the needs of her family and friends before the Lord throughout her life. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built a legacy of love, compassion, and service.
Mrs. Hunter dedicated more than twenty years of her life to Prep Company Day Care, Jackson Mississippi, where she found joy in the work she loved. Known for her caring spirit and nurturing heart, she took great pride in cooking meals made with love and caring for babies and children. Whether preparing food, offering encouragement, or simply sharing a warm smile, she had a special gift for making others feel loved and valued.
Family was the center of her world. She loved deeply and unconditionally, and her greatest joy was spending time with those she cherished. Her wisdom, prayers, and gentle guidance will forever remain a treasured part of the lives she touched.
Mrs. Hunter was the fourth of five children, three who preceded her in death, born to her parents, Luella Thompson and Nathan Henderson, who also preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved sister, Thelma Henderson of Ridgeland, Mississippi.
She also leaves behind her four loving children - Jerry (Albert) Guice, Rufus Henderson, Larry (Thelma) all of Jackson, MS and Luella (Walter) Archie of Canton, MS all who were blessed by her steadfast love and devotion throughout their lives. In addition, she leaves her beloved grandson, "her boy" Richard, whom she lovingly called her own and held close to her heart. Along with a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, they will continue to honor her legacy and keep her memory alive.
Though her physical presence will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she has entered into eternal rest and is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, kindness, and love. "Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
Mrs. Hunter's legacy of faith, prayer, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
