Ollie Rose Carter's Obituary
Ollie Rose Carter was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on September 22, 1947, to the late John David Baker and Adeline Harper Baker. She was the beloved sister of John Edmond Baker Sr., who preceded her in death.
Ollie Rose accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age. She was educated in the Indianapolis public school system and later pursued higher education, earning credentials as both a teacher and a Licensed Family Therapist.
She moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she began her teaching career and met the love of her life, Rev. Hilliard Aaron Carter. The two later settled in Jackson, Mississippi, where they joined New Bethel Baptist Church. There, Ollie served faithfully as a leader and missionary for Christ, especially devoted to the youth department.
The Carters later became members of Koinonia Baptist Church, where Ollie continued her lifelong mission of service and faith. In addition to her ministry work, she taught at Jackson State University and volunteered with the American Red Cross, Stewpot, and other community organizations. Ollie never met a stranger-her warm spirit and radiant faith touched the lives of everyone she met. The light of the Lord shone brightly through her daily walk.
She was preceded in death by her three sons, Aaron Baker Carter (1st), Aaron Baker Carter (2nd), and Derak Aaron Carter. Ollie leaves to cherish her memory three daughters-Satya Ballard, Lynda Carter, and Hiliary Erin Carter-along with five cherished grandchildren: Lauryn, Layla, Lyric, Samira, and Savion. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends who will forever hold her precious memory in their hearts.
