Pearlie Mae James' Obituary
Pearlie Mae James was a remarkable individual whose life journey began on June 20, 1944, in Madison, Mississippi. Born to Willie Mae Horn and Lem Bennet, Pearlie Mae's life was a tapestry of resilience, love, and dedication. On September 11, 2025, God saw fit to call his Angel home. She was also preceded in death by her sister Glory, her beautiful daughter Gloria, and brother Lawrence. Pearlie Mae departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and strength. Her memory continues to inspire all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.
Pearlie's faith journey began at a young age when she accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized. Her commitment to her beliefs was evident in her active participation at Mount Mariah Missionary Baptist Church, where she became an integral part of the community. Serving as a member of the Pastor Aid Club, Pearl supported the church's leadership, exemplifying dedication and care for her spiritual family. Additionally, her involvement with the Kitchen Committee highlighted her willingness to contribute practically, ensuring that fellowship and hospitality were at the heart of church gatherings. Pearl's devotion to her church and her faith served as an inspiring testament to her character and her steadfast commitment to her spiritual path. She worked as a cook (and a good cook she was) at Jitney Jungle, which later became Winn-Dixie in Westland Plaza. After retiring from Winn-Dixie, Pearlie transitioned into a new chapter of her life by joining Parker's Personal Care Home, where she took on the role of a cook, where her passion for preparing delicious and nourishing meals found a welcoming home.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories....one daughter, Betty (Darrell Sr.) Brown, two sons, Fitzgerald "BJ" (Paradine "Pam") James and Elliott Earl (Tarsha) James; 17 Grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
