Percy Thomas Jr.'s Obituary
Percy Thomas, Jr., was born May 2, 1940, in Madison County, Mississippi. His parents were the late Georgia Mae Rouser Thomas Brown and the late Percy Thomas, Sr. His stepfather was the late Charlie Brown. He was the oldest grandchild of the late Easter Harris. His younger brother, Bobby Brown, predeceased him.
Although born in Mississippi, Percy actually grew up in the state of Illinois. Before retirement and moving to Mississippi, he was a member of Broadview Baptist Church in Maywood, https://Illinois.However, Ridley Hill Missionary Baptist Church (always his Mississippi Church) was where he faithfully served until death.
Percy married his high school sweetheart Eldora. Their union produced three children, Tyrone, Kelly and Dena. On August 19, 2001, he married his present wife of twenty-three years, Deloris Hughes.
Percy was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1958-1962; he worked thirty-three years for Allstate Insurance, retiring in1994; and he was an avid golfer who loved the sport and traveled extensively to participate with other fellow golfers. He also enjoyed fishing and down-home grilling.
Departing this life on March 23, 2025, Percy is survived by his loving wife Deloris; one son, Tyrone Thomas; two daughters, Kelly Rousso and Dena Thomas; siblings from his biological father, Melvin, Bobbie, Carolyn and Deborah (all of California); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; an aunt, Alice Loretta Burnett; sister-in-law, Lennie Brown (Bobby Brown deceased); other cousins, relatives and friends.
