Rev. James Albert Donald Sr.'s Obituary
James A. Donald of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away on February 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, educator, band director, avid photographer, and veteran, he lived a life defined by faith, service, and leadership.
Born and raised in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, he was the son of Eddie Frank Donald and Lillie Anderson. He proudly served his country in the United States military before dedicating more than 30 years to education as a Band Director, impacting countless students through music, mentorship, and discipline.
For over 25 years, Reverend James A. Donald faithfully served as Pastor of China Grove M.B. Church, where he preached, led, and cared for his congregation with compassion and conviction. Ministry was not just his profession — it was his calling.
He was a loving husband to Hazel and a proud father to Cassandra, James Donald Jr.(Michelle), and Eric (Kimberly). He cherished his role as grandfather to James Donald III "Trey" and Terrell, and as great-grandfather to Javion. His family is his greatest joy.
He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie and Sandra; his brothers, Phillip and Glenn; and a host of extended family members, church family, former students, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
